If the Houston Rockets meet the Golden State Warriors in a rematch of the Western Conference Finals, Ty Lawson better make Stephen Curry work hard on defense.
The point guard texted James Harden, "Man, get me over there" during the Western Conference Finals, urging someone on the Rockets to make Curry work hard on defense because he felt like the NBA MVP was on cruise control on that side of the floor.
"Steph Curry needed someone to go back at him. I thought Steph was just chillin’ on defense—and then going crazy on offense," Lawson told Yahoo of Curry. "He looked like he was just putting shots up and not working so much on the defensive end. He would just come down and hit three or four threes. He can shoot when he’s got his legs under him."
In the offseason the Rockets traded for Lawson, so maybe he can be the one to make Curry work on defense in the case the teams meet in the playoffs again.
"I'm not saying, 'Oh, I’m going to stop Steph,' but just make him work harder at the other end," Lawson said. "I saw that in the Cavs series too. He wasn’t really working at the other end."
Be careful what you say to that Splash Brother. All he did after leading the Warriors to a five-game series win over the Rockets, was win the NBA Finals in six games.
