At one point in Colin Kaepernick's career, the sky was the limit for the young quarterback.
Now, though, his star continues to fade...and his opponents are letting him know all about it. During the Green Bay Packers' 17-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Fox TV cameras picked up the sound of Packers linebacker Clay Matthews yelling, "You ain't Russell Wilson, bro" in Kaepernick's direction.
Adding insult to injury, Matthews jab came after the linebacker already taunted Kaepernick by doing the QB's trademark biceps-kissing celebration after a sack.
"Nah, it's not planned," Matthews told ESPN after the game. "I was going to hit him with the predator, and then I had a light bulb go off in my head. It's just having fun. We're a bunch of kids out there running around and having fun at each other's expense."
Just a few years ago, Kaepernick, Robert Griffin III and Wilson were regarded together as three of the game's brightest young quarterbacks. Wilson still is, but Kaepernick and RGIII have suffered a fall from grace.
His paltry 13-of-25 passing for 160 yards and an interception Sunday didn't do too much to help, either.
