Jets Sign Guy Holding Cardboard Sign

Persistence paid off for Joe Anderson.

Published December 23, 2015

Joe Anderson stood outside of the Houston Texans stadium for a few days, holding a cardboard sign that read, "Not homeless...but STARVING for success." It also read, "Will Run Routes 4 Food" an included the hashtags, "#Whateverittakes, #UnderDog, #Hungry and #IBelieve."

Well, persistence paid off. On Tuesday, the wide receiver was signed to the New York Jets practice squad, reuniting him with former Chicago Bears teammate Brandon Marshall.

Anderson took to his Instagram account to express his joy.

THANK YOU JESUS ‼️ (#18) TheJourneyOfTheReturn MY PRAYER IS THAT IM BEING THE BEST LIGHT POSSIBLE FOR THOSE OUT THERE WHO ARE FOLLOWING ME AND OR READY TO QUIT, CAUSE I UNDERSTAND I MAY BE THE ONLY HOPE SOME OF THESE KIDS OUT HERE HAVE AND I TAKE PRIDE IN THAT, AND THATS ONE THING THAT ENCOURAGES ME TO NOT QUIT NO MATTER HOW HARD ITS BEEN FOR ME!! Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will always succeed according to his perfect will!! The bible says all things are possible through Christ, no matter your situation you must always remain faithful and obedient unto the Lord and when the going gets super tuff remember to always Walk By #Faith and not by #Sight!! #DontGetImpatientWhenItTakesToLong #OwnYourStruggle And truly trust God without wavering..God can change your situation just like that so you need to be ready!! Glory to God! And I'm so very grateful from the bottom of my heart of the entire @nyjets organization for taking a chance on a kid with literally just a couple dollars and a dream and a heart to prove to others who give up on themselves in life that it's truly possible! The Jets is my favorite team and I can honestly say I never had one Thank you Jesus for blessing me and my family with this job for Christmas! Now it's time to continue to work with all my heart and help make this team better and be the best teammate I can be to all my brothers in that locker room 1luv✊🏾! #DONTQUIT #YourCloserThanYouThink #GodWillKeepHisPromises I'm a living testimony🙌🏾 the word of God is real you just gotta Believe!! Also feels good to be back with my big brother @bmarshall our relationship runs deep! I can't Say it enough GOD IS GOOD
