Kyrie Irving’s whitewashed boat party last week lit Twitter on fire with reactions, taking aim at the Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star point guard for not having any Black women aboard.
Days after hearing all the backlash, the newly-crowned NBA champion wants to make one thing perfectly clear — his yacht party wasn’t a “no Black girls allowed” event at all.
"I'd never think I would have to address something as ridiculous as a yacht party, but I wasn't raised to discriminate against any race let alone any race of women, especially my own," Irving said in a statement to TMZ Sports. "I was raised by the Black women in my family and for me to be connected to some nonsense like a 'No Black girls allowed' party is embarrassing and an inaccurate portrayal of who and what I represent as man."
For what it’s worth, Irving apologized to his critics who felt offended by the party footage.
In case you missed all the Becky-aboard turn up…
But more than anything, Kyrie wants people to know "that story has no truth to it and I wanted to clear the air on all of this B.S."
As for his next goal?
“I would like to continue celebrating this championship. Thank you," Irving said.
After hearing his response, what do you think about his party now?
