Update: Tragic Details Revealed in Murder of Antonio Armstrong and Wife by Their Son

A heartbreaking story.

As if last week's murder of former NFL player Antonio Armstrong and his wife by their own son couldn't get any sadder, new details have pushed this story to an even more disturbing level.

According to The Grio, the 16-year-old boy allegedly tried to cover up the murder of his parents.

The website reports that the teenager called the police from inside a closet, alleging that he witnessed a masked intruder in the house. When cops arrived to the home, they found a gun on the counter alongside a note that read, "I've been watching you."

But the strange part about that is the family's alarm system was shut off and police couldn't pinpoint any evidence of a forced entry. Hmm ...

Meanwhile, the teenager has denied any involvement with the murders of his parents, although he admitted to experimenting with trying to silence guns with pillows and blankets.

When police arrived to the family's home early last Friday morning, they found Armstrong's wife, Dawn, dead. Antonio died at a hospital a short time later from a gunshot wound to the head.

Tragic.

Armstrong briefly played in the NFL in 1995 for the Miami Dolphins.
