Here's Why the NBA Just Slapped Matt Barnes With a $15,000 Fine
Matt Barnes has always been one of the more outspoken NBA players, seemingly never one to back down from a confrontation and speak his mind.
But this time, the Sacramento Kings' forward's mouth has managed to make his pockets lighter.
USA Today is reporting that Barnes was fined $15,000 by the league for directing "inappropriate language" toward NBA referees following his Kings' overtime road loss against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night. Although the incident took place Tuesday night, the league made the fine official Thursday.
What did the 14-year NBA veteran say to refs after that game?
Well, that's currently unknown. But let's just say he carries an expensive conversation.
That game did have Kings' All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins entering the fourth quarter with zero personal fouls and exiting regulation being fouled out after picking up six fouls in 12 minutes.
Perhaps Barnes had some choice words to refs about their calls on Cousins.
