Those familiar with Dan Le Batard know the longtime sports writer and personality has an aggressive affinity for getting the truth on classic stories — like last May, when he got Fat Joe to confirm on ESPN's Highly Questionable that the New York Knicks' player that the Notorious B.I.G. was referencing on "I Got a Story to Tell" was Anthony Mason.
Well, Le Batard might have pushed his guest on ESPN's The Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz on Tuesday too far ... and he got cursed out for it.
Speaking to WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page on his live ESPN radio show, which is also televised, Le Batard pressed the former Superstar for the truth about his beefs with fellow former wrestlers Ric Flair and Scott Steiner.
"You tried to rip his eyes out!" Le Batard screamed at DDP, who called into the show, referring to an infamous backstage incident between Page and Steiner back in 2001 when the two were in the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling. "Or did he try to rip your eyes? Who tried to rip whose eyes out there? Somebody tried to rip somebody’s eyes out there."
Page, who was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last weekend and is the face of his own DDP Yoga brand, tried to stay calm.
"You can't rev me up, dude," he told Le Batard. "Are you serious?"
Still, Le Batard persisted, and asked DDP the same question yet again.
That's all it took for Page to lose his cool, calling Le Batard a "monkey," before allegedly telling the host "f*** you" and threatening to kill him. Sheesh! Just like that, all that peaceful DDP Yoga stuff that he was preaching went out the window for his old, savage wrestling persona.
Well, for what it's worth, Twitter loved every second of it. Here are the best reactions to DDP going off on Dan Le Batard. Bang!
Diamond Dallas Page was livid!
He wasn't having it.
Hmm ... it's hard to tell with wrestlers sometimes.
Le Batard didn't seem shook.
With years of cutting wrestling promos, Page could've very well been laughing the moment off as soon as the interview ended.
As he used to say throughout his wrestling career ... "BANG!!"
