D'Angelo Russell Hit a Game-Winning Shot Hours After His Grandma Died

But Lakers fans want to know "why TF are they trying to win?"

Published April 10, 2017

Sometimes even when you win, you lose and have to hold that L.

That's how savage Los Angeles Lakers fans are treating D'Angelo Russell. The Lakers point guard's grandmother died early Sunday morning and Russell responded last night by draining a buzzer-beating, game-winning three to lift the Lakers to a 110-109 home victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves as he honored his late grandma right after.

Although several Lakers fans were touched by the emotional moment, they couldn't resist ripping Russell and the squad for winning the game — their fourth straight victory in another losing season.

Why the outrage? Well, with each win, the Lakers (25-55) lessen their chances of securing the highest-possible selection in the 2017 NBA Draft this summer. So, in other words, winning could spell losing big-picture wise and that's why Lakers fans are unhappy with the recent streak.

Here is D'Angelo's winning shot and heavy-hearted reaction to it followed by all the slander he and the Lakers endured thereafter.

  1. There's No disputing that the shot was a touching moment

But try explaining that to savage Lakers fans.

  2. Lakers Fans Were Like ...

No chill out West? The man just lost his grandmother, bruh!

  3. This is a fair question, though

What's the strategy to win late in a lost season? We're waiting, Magic Johnson.

  4. The Lakers' Draft chances might take a hit because of this sudden winning streak

We could see LaVar Ball breaking all the furniture in his house over the prospect that the Lakers dip on the Draft board and aren't in a position to select his son Lonzo.

  5. The Sixers Are happy, though

At 28-52 to the Lakers' 25-55 record, the Philadelphia 76ers could definitely use a couple of more wins from the Purple and Gold.

  6. When Wins Are Losses

    Ain't that some s**t?

  7. One fan called it the 'worst four-game winning streak in NBA History'

    Can't front...he has a point.

  8. It took this dude to get crazed Lakers fans all the way together

Facts. Some things are bigger than the game itself.
