LeBron Said It Was An 'Honor To Witness History' About The Mayweather-McGregor Fight

And plenty of other NBA stars sounded off about the mega bout.

Published August 28, 2017

The general consensus after Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s 10th-round TKO win over Conor McGregor in Las Vegas on Saturday night was clear — "Money" May's 50-0 record spells his undisputed greatness, but McGregor's game effort was noticed.

That's the way LeBron James and many of his NBA peers saw the fight, saluting Mayweather's greatness, but also respecting McGregor's courage and showing for someone who was fighting a professional boxing match for the first time.

Here's what King James, who was sitting ringside at the fight, and many other NBA stars said following the Mayweather-McGregor mega bout.

  1. Call it a case of greatness recognizing greatness, LeBron saluted Mayweather on his record-setting 50th win

It was rather unique to say the least.

  2. By the same token, King James made it a point to throw respect McGregor's way as well

Lot of respect, indeed. To hang with the boxing legend for 10 rounds wasn't a small feat.

  3. Dwyane Wade loved watching Mayweather get that 50th win the hard way

Neither are we. Not mad at all.

  4. Russell Westbrook just went ahead and called Mayweather "The Best Ever"

Do you agree? Is Mayweather the undisputed best ever boxer?

  5. Like many of his NBA peers, Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns made it clear that Mayweather's 50-0 record is pristine, while also offering respect for McGregor's effort

    All #Facts.

  6. Bucks forward Jabari Parker did much of the same

A lot of money, indeed -- via a combined $400 million-plus that the fighters are supposed to take home. Was there really a loser?

  7. Perhaps J.R. Smith, who was also ringside for the fight, said all that needs to be said

    TBE!!!!!

If Mayweather sticks to his word and stays retired this time, what do you think his lasting legacy over boxing will be?
