It didn't take long for Colin Kaepernick to get wind of Cardi B's woke shout-out to him at the MTV VMAs on Sunday night.
And the appreciative QB took to his Instagram account yesterday to thank the Bronx MC for using her platform to say, "Colin Kaepernick, as long as you kneel with us, we're gonna be standing for you, baby!"
Kaep was touched by the shout-out and returned the love with this sweet message of his own.
"Thanks so much @iamcardib," Kaepernick wrote on the IG caption, accompanying a video of the rapper's VMA moment. "I appreciate you supporting the movement and @yourrightscamp."
If you scroll through, you'll see a shot of Kaepernick's girlfriend, Hot 97 personality Nessa Diab, with Cardi B, repping for his "Know Your Rights Camp."
And Kaepernick kept the thank yous going, saluting former San Francisco 49ers teammate Eric Reid for kneeling during the national anthem before the team's preseason game Sunday night and the hundreds who rallied on his behalf outside of NFL headquarters in New York City last week.
We love Kaepernick for taking the time out to post this.
If you remember, the 49ers safety knelt with Kaepernick last year as a protest against racism and the police brutality of unarmed Black men. However, he didn't enter this preseason kneeling during the national anthem. That being said, Reid had a "change of heart" and knelt before the 49ers' preseason game Sunday night, citing thinking, praying and speaking with Kaepernick for the change. Kaepernick had to recognize that.
Is Kaepernick not the most humble, woke athlete in sports today? It'd be a true crime if he doesn't get an opportunity to play in the NFL this season due to owners punishing him over his woke, powerful stance.
