LeBron James and Kevin Durant are arguably the No. 1 and No. 2 best players, respectively, in the world right now.
And if you ask Michael Beasley, he's right up there with them. Wait ... huh? Yes, while speaking with Bleacher Report, the New York Knicks' small forward said just that and more.
"As far as talent-wise, I match up with Kevin [Durant], LeBron, I match up with the best guys in the world," Beasley told the website as part of a recent feature story on him. "I'm not being cocky; it's just always how I felt. But I got into trouble as soon as I got into the NBA and it left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths."
To the latter he's referring to reportedly getting caught smoking weed at the NBA's rookie symposium in 2008.
While Beasley was nearly a 20-point scorer during the 2010-11 season, the 6-foot-9 forward's NBA career has been that of a journeyman, with the Knicks being the sixth team he will play in 10 years. And his career average of 12.6 points per game isn't anywhere near the production of James or Durant.
So if he's on the talent level of a King James or KD, we haven't seen it yet. And just the mere mention of those NBA champions and future Hall of Famers alongside his name in such a comparison was enough to drive Twitter into hysteria, dragging Beasley with these zero-chill reactions.
[Warning: Some tweets include profanity].
And this was just the beginning of the Internet slander.
Using the GOAT to convey your Twitter roasting. OK, we see you.
Stop it, Mike.
