LeVar Burton is a veteran actor, probably best known for his roles in Star Trek and the 1977 TV miniseries Roots, as well as hosting PBS's popular former children's series, Reading Rainbow. LaVar Ball is the outspoken dad of three basketball player sons, Los Angeles Lakers' rookie point guard, Lonzo Ball, UCLA guard LiAngelo Ball, and LaMelo Ball, and is the mind behind their Big Baller Brand.
Easy enough to decipher the difference between the two, right? Well, try explaining that to some "they all look alike" President Trump supporters.
After watching LaVar Ball blast the celebrity-in-chief during a live CNN interview earlier in the week, a group of Trump supporters mistook LeVar Burton for the basketball father whose son LiAngelo was arrested for shoplifting in China before the president helped return him and his two UCLA teammates back to L.A.
So these confused Trump supporters flooded Burton with hate mail and tweets, instead of LaVar Ball, as spotted by the New York Daily News.
“You're a has been actor with a thief for a son and Trump is the president of the United States. Get the picture?” one person tweeted, as reported by the Daily News.
Another Trump supporter tweeted: “LaVar Burton broke the rules of good manners. He insulted our president and the president of China. He should be ashamed that his son dishonored him by stealing."
This can't be life! Well, the only positive about Trump supporters mistaking LeVar Burton for LaVar Ball is all the hilarious reactions from people making fun of them. Check some of those out below.
Shaking our heads.
Not a thing.
LeVar Burton is not LaVar Ball. Got it, guys?
