After winning his Oscar for his animated short, Dear Basketball, Kobe Bryant and Denzel Washington cheerfully posed in a two-winners-one-statue-themed photo.
Bryant's wife, Vanessa Bryant, shared the same photo to her Instagram page with the caption, "When Denzel said 'Welcome to the club.' Just #Wow."
Although Vanessa's page is private, the image and caption were re-shared by The Shade Room.
You’d think Kobe Bryant hit the pinnacle of greatness when the Los Angeles Lakers retired both of his numbers. Surprisingly, nah.
The Black Mamba just won an Oscar for Best Animated Short for “Dear Basketball” and his speech deserved an Oscar in itself.

“As basketball players we’re really supposed to shut up and dribble. I’m glad we’re doing much more than that,” Bryant said, referencing the uninformed comments made about LeBron James and Kevin Durant by Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham. Bryant also thanked the Academy, composer John Williams, his wife and daughters.
Social media also went wild over Kobe's victory. See what they had to say below.

“Dear Basketball” is based on a 2015 poem Bryant wrote when he announced his retirement from the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant and Williams have reportedly been friends since 2008 when the five-time NBA champion reached out to the composer about his process.
