Matt Barnes Reveals Who His Messy Beef With Derek Fisher Was Actually About, And It Wasn’t Gloria
One of the greatest rivalries in the NBA was not between two teams but between two players. In 2015, former Los Angeles Lakers players Matt Barnes and Derek Fisher were involved in a brawl that many people assumed was over Barnes' ex-wife, Gloria Govan, whom Fisher started dating. However, Barnes has come forward and revealed the real reason why he and Fisher fought.
While appearing on the popular Fox Sports program In the Zone with Chris Broussard, Barnes detailed what happened between himself and Fisher to cause a rift.
Barnes said the reason for the fight was not Gloria, but his family
Barnes said when Fisher started dating Govan, he was spending time around Barnes’ children in the home he paid for without having a conversation with him first. However, after time passed, Barnes put his feelings aside for the good of his kids.
"He and I are cool. ... He makes my kids happy, [so] I'm happy."
People have big respect for Barnes after he came clean and moved on from his differences with Fisher
