Shanahan's Son Weighs in on McNabb Benching

ASHBURN, Va. – Donovan McNabb says he's banged up but could've finished the game. Kyle Shanahan tried his hand at explaining McNabb's benching — and did a better job than his dad.

And JaMarcus Russell was on the practice field, getting a workout.

The Washington Redskins broke for their off week vacation Tuesday — and not a moment too soon. The five-day break is exactly what's needed to settle things down after a dizzying three days of quarterback drama.

McNabb again took the high road over getting yanked in the closing minutes of Sunday's loss to Detroit, saying: "Coach makes the decisions."

Offensive coordinator Shanahan said McNabb has been hampered by bad hamstrings and was told in advance that he could be pulled.
