First Lady Mentors - First Lady Michelle Obama will provide a group of local high school students with an opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to participate in mentoring activities with senior women who work in the White House. The DC-area high school students, all young women, (a program for young men will be launched soon) will be paired with women in the White House and learn about their career paths.

Mrs. Obama will lead a practice session for students competing in the Science Bowl, a competition coordinated by the agency to encourage an interest in science amongst secondary students.

Opening Up - The President and First Lady opened up about some of their past marital difficulties in a profile recently published in The NY Times Magazine. “This was sort of the eye-opener to me, that marriage is hard,” Mrs. Obama said. “Going into it, no one ever tells you that.” The president said during the interview that he was never fearful for their marriage, but worried that his wife would be unhappy. A perfect marriage is “the last thing we want to project. It’s unfair to the institution of marriage.
