Nearly Fatal - According to a police report, Mychal Bell, one of the "Jena Six" teens, purposely tried to put himself in a casket this week. Bell, who was arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly stealing $370 worth of clothes, told police that he shot himself "because he was tired of all the media attention," the report says.

This time, it was by Herman Rosenblat, a retired TV repairman who wrote a phony memoir about meeting his wife at a Nazi-death camp. The book, “Angel at the Fence: The True Story of a Love That Survived,” has since been canceled, but a movie is reportedly in the works.

Arrested - Former NFL star Andre Rison and a friend of his were arrested for causing a scene at the Crown Plaza Riverwalk hotel in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday. Rison, ex-boyfriend of the late Left Eye of TLC, was reportedly drunk. He paid an $85 fine for the misdemeanor and was then released.

Indicted - Jennifer Hudson's ex-brother-in-law just got a step closer to spending the rest of his life behind bars. William Balfour, who is accused of killing Hudson's mom, brother and nephew, was formally charged with the murder this week.

Say What?! - If Republican state Sen. Seth Harp has his way, two Black colleges in Georgia, Savannah State University and Albany State University, will close for good. Harp wants to merge the schools with White schools in the area to end the racist legacy that forced Blacks to form their own institutions.

Most Segregated - Chicago is the most segregated city in the United States, according to an analysis by the “Chicago Tribune.” Experts say the segregation was fueled by racial steering, discriminatory business practices and prejudice in the 19th century. Experts say personal preference and economics now keep the city segregated.

‘Magic Negro’ - Chip Saltsman, who used to head up the GOP in Tennessee, is drawing fire for a CD he sent out with the song "Barack the Magic Negro," a parody of the 1960s folk hit, "Puff the Magic Dragon." The song questions whether Obama is "authentically" Black and says White voters wouldn't have voted for him if he were from "the hood."
