After touching the world in his fight for equality which ended apartheid in his native South Africa, world leader and activist Nelson Mandela has passed away at the age of 95.
Born on July 18, 1918 in Mveso, Transkei, South Africa, Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist that spent 27 years in prison because of his non-violent strides for equality in South Africa. After being released from prison in 1990, he saw apartheid end and took office as the first democratically elected Black President of South Africa in 1994.
