From SWV to the OMG Girlz it's fair to say that R&B loves girl groups, especially trios. Destiny's Child, The Supremes, and TLC all had three members in them and all of these groups left their own unique imprint on music.
We keep Destiny's Child, The Supremes, and TLC on our iPods and in rotation, but there's nothing like hearing new music from girl groups that we love old or new which is why last night's debut of SWV's new joint "Co-Sign" on 106 & Park was so special. It's been years since Taj, Coko, and Lelee have graced listeners with their voices, but there's no doubt that these "Sisters With Voices" are back with their signature sound and reminding everybody what talent is.
Then there are the OMG Girlz. They are young, fierce, independent, positive, and most importantly they are three of the most talented girls that anyone has seen since Destiny's Child took the world by storm. Their harmonies, funky style, amazing hair, and moves are proving that they can hold their own in the midst of all of the dudes that rule the new school like Diggy, Jacob Latimore, and Mindless Behavior.
Thanks to SWV paving the way, the OMG Girlz know that there's nothing that they can't do and that the sky is the limit. Oh, and girls remember that staying positive can get you to where the OMG Girlz are and it can also get you some, "Gucci This (Gucci That)"!
Don't forget to tune into 106 & Park tonight at 6P/5C to see if the OMG Girlz can reclaim the top spot on the countdown!
