The Nigerian songstress was nominated Best International Act: Africa in 2014 and is back again as a nominee for Best International Act 2018 at this year’s BET Awards International.

Tiwatope Savage-Balogun, better known by her stage name, Tiwa Savage, is a savage in her own right, starting out as a background vocalist for artists like Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan and Mary J. Blige. She has written for greats including Monica, Fantasia and Babyface. Flexing her writing skills on albums like Fantasia's Grammy-nominated Back to Me.


FUN FACT: She co-wrote Fantasia's “Collard Greens & Cornbread.”


Prior to stardom Tiwa came from the accounting world with a degree in business administration from Kent University and later took her music career to the next level, attending Berklee College of Music. Before bagging her diploma, she competed in X-Factor U.K. edition, making it to the final 24.
