The red carpet is one of the few places where trends get defined. Every award show, movie premiere and glittering gala is an opportunity for us regular people to soak of some of the exotic shine of our favorite celebs. This year, at the Soul Train Awards, we found some killer style and beauty trends on the carpet that we can't wait to incorporate into our holiday party looks.
We loved all of the ladies that turned up the glamour by rocking an extra long train on the red carpet. Who says you need a super formal event to be fabulous?
None of the Soul Train Awards attendees are were about a risk and seeing the red carpet peppered with lively prints was a refreshing sight. Shoutout to teenager, Jay Versace for bringing back a retro style well before his time. Oh, and can't forget Fat Joe who didn't let the ladies have all the fun.
One of the best ways to be supernatural is to be, well, super natural. These ladies opted to go for a nude lip on the carpet, which is a very low maintainence but still chic look. No one went au naturale, a la Miss Alicia Keys but we are still loving the understated elegance of not doing the absolute most.
Picking the body part you want to exccentuate is one of the toughest parts of getting dressed, especially for a big event. We can all learn something from these ladies, who must never skip leg day at the gym. Theses super high slits are sexy and perfect for exhibiting your inner exotic shine.
While we are all for anyone who wants to do it naturally, the carpet is the original place to make a statement if you have one to make so we are big fans of all the ladies who chose to rock red lips. Yuna's signature headwrap was perfectly accuentuated by a bareface and a bold red lip.
Dark and Lovely
And just in case red isn't your thing, taking a note from the sytle guru herself, Erykah Badu is not a bad idea. She and Miss Claudia Jordan were both spotted rocking deep dark shades on their lips, really great for getting into the seasonal mood.
These are our favorite style and beauty trends from the Soul Train Awards carpet. Let us kow which one you'll be trying.
