Tamar grew up in a famed household, with sister Toni well on the rise in the early 90s making R&B magic. The Braxton sisters Trina, Traci, Towanda, Toni and Tamar formed a group, The Braxtons, which allowed the young siblings to gain early spotlight. Once they signed to Arista Records, they thought only upward from there!
Being the youngest, Tamar had a lot to learn, but with her sisters constantly in her corner, she was never bound to lose. Following her and her sisters being dropped from Arista, she, Trina and Towanda returned to the music scene once more in 1996 with a new album entitled So Many Ways, which peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. After their success touring and performing, The Braxtons decided to part ways as a group once Tamar (lead singer) was signed solo to DreamWorks Records in 1998.
In 1990, The Braxtons released their first single, "Good Life", which would end up being their only single as a group due to Arista Records dropping them soon after their single reached No. 79 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart.
These ladies have been friends for a long time, and although moments have not always been perfect - Tamar stands by her girl Tiny every step of the way. She's even T.I. and Tiny's daughter, Heiress' godmother. How cute!
"Let Me Know" by Tamar Braxton featuring Future was released in 2014. Three months after the release, the song topped the Urban AC Radio chart reaching the No.5 spot and No.10 on R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart.
Tamar sat down with Essence Live to reconfirm for all her foreal foreal fans, she will still be doing a talkshow with the help of Steve Harvey. Currently she's just hashing out details of what the show will be about and how it will be laid out. We cannot wait to see her back on televisions again!
