The footage that was originally posted on the Instagram account of their dance instructor, Homer Hans Bryant, has now garnered over 6 million views on Facebook. Not to mention, all the praise they’ve received for their impressive footwork in the comments section. Bryant invented the style of dance the girls are seen doing in the clip and calls it "Hiplet Sur Les Pointes," a combination of hip hop and ballet.
CMDC school administrator Cheryl Taylor told BuzzFeed News, “A lot of the girls in the video have been training with us since they were three years old.” She added that the dancers were between 12 and 16 years old and that they performed with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra last year.
We wonder if Derulo, who’s currently a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, had a chance to watch these brown ballerinas slay his song in their pointe shoes. One thing’s for sure though — #BlackGirlMagic strikes once again.
