Azealia Banks is no stranger to social media criticism. This time, though, it's not about the rapper bullying tweens or getting in club brawls, but about the rumor that the outspoken "pro-Black" 25-year-old is bleaching her skin.
Fans took notice to the rapper's noticeably lighter complexion over the weekend when she was performing in Brazil. A skin-color altering company, Whitenicious, has even taken credit for the change.
Here is a photo Banks posted to Instagram just two weeks ago.
Here is one from over the weekend, including the company Whitenicious complimenting Banks on her allegedly bleached skin.
And while Banks has been banned from Twitter for a little over a month now, it now appears that she has created an alias account and is responding to the rumors, but not denying them.
One user asked, "How can azealia banks 'exude' this pro-black lifestyle and mentality but IS BLEACHING HER SKIN?" The alleged alias user, which Banks then screen-grabbed and posted to her verified Instagram account, replied, "Because my p***y is still purple."
It is becoming increasingly clear that there is nothing not strange about Banks's life. Strange that she claims to defend other people's Blackness, and yet appears to be — allegedly — fighting against her own.
