Today, Kanye West debuted his latest Yeezy season collection, fresh off two nights of his Saint Pablo tour at Madison Square Garden. After a controversial casting call for "multiracial models only" over the weekend, a lot of eyebrows (and voices on Twitter) were raised as to the discriminatory nature of the request but Yeezy is never one to disappoint. Instead he showed an array of brown bodies and bodysuits, creating a gradient of melanin for the display of his clothes.
The clothes themselves were again a continuation of the last three of Yeezy's seasons, focusing on a body conscious silhouette, clean and minimal lines and an athletic spirit.
One of the more notable moments from the show was a footwear mishap that took place when model Amina Blue (who you may remember from Tyga's video for "1 of 1") made walking in Yeezy shoes look painfully unpleasant. When she could no longer bear to wobble down the runway, she frustratingly removed the shoes and later reappeared in slides for the finale.
Kanye West has been notorious for selling out ("Nike out here bad, they can't give s**t away / I stuck to my roots, I'm like Jimmy Fallon / I ain't dropped the album but the shoes went platinum / Woo!")* in mere minutes, but will the same go for the clear Lucite heels that seemed to be uncomfortable for even the models today?
The hiccup didn't take away from from flawless catwalks by Teyana Taylor, Chanel Iman and Sophia Richie, who strutted the extremely long triangular runway like bosses do.
