“I never thought this would actually happen to us.” Those are the words uttered by Kylie Jenner after she got trapped on an elevator Thursday night (Sept. 8) while leaving her apartment building in New York with Kendall Jenner and friends. The girls were rescued by a squad of firefighters after being stuck for 20 minutes and the lip kit queen herself documented the whole thing on her Snapchat for the world to see.
If you get caught in a similar situation of your own, don’t be an elevator damsel in distress. Here are a few gems Kylie dropped on us from her experience:
Don’t Panic. (Or maybe panic a little.)
“So we’re here. The fire department is on the other side of the door. We’re going be fine,” Kylie says just before their epic rescue. BFF Hailey Baldwin chimes in to reassure her, “We ARE going to be fine.” Moments later, Kylie does a pretty spot on impression of the “ugly Kim crying face” we’ve all come to love. New Kimoji alert?
Do wear a practical yet fashionable outfit.
You would think sweats and sneaks would be the outfit of choice when trapped in a suspended metal box (dramatic, we know). You know, just in case you might have to climb or crawl at any point. But behold, Kylie shows us that high fashion is a must, even in times of despair. Why exactly was her baby blue tweed frock the perfect #OOTD to get stuck in an elevator? Mostly because of Snapchat.
Don’t let your phone die.
Yeah, you can call for help — but, again, mostly because of Snapchat. If you’re lucky enough like Kylie, the elevator will be equipped with an outlet, so keep your phone charger handy. Now your Snap story will be lit.
Do keep healthy snacks in your purse.
It was a Nature’s Valley bar that held Kylie, Kendall and their girls down during their elevator ride from hell. An obviously starved Kendall devoured the bar and left only the crumbs for their followers to see. Our point here is that being stuck on an elevator is no time to abandon your diet…especially when you’re a model and it’s New York Fashion Week. Priorities, people!
Don’t get stuck without your squad.
Kylie had the support of her big sister and friends Hailey Baldwin and Jordyn Woods during her ordeal. It’s important to note that they are all models, so if you can’t be stuck in an elevator with your besties, then the next best thing is to get stuck in an elevator with models.
Do snap a group selfie with your rescue team.
Taking a cue (or shall we say key) from DJ Khaled, Kylie remembers that it’s all about fan love. In this case the fans were the team of fire fighters who came to her rescue.
And always make a flawless exit from the scene.
Because you should never let them see you sweat!
