Remember the whole blue/black or white/gold dress debacle? Well, there’s a new optical illusion breaking the internet and it involves a pair of shiny legs. Just search #shinylegs on any social media platforms and you’ll find millions of people sharing the same pic of glossy legs originally posted on Instagram by @leonardhoespams.
Here’s the debate: At first glance the limbs appear to be covered in oil or wrapped in plastic, but after careful observation many started to argue that it was just white paint creating the effect. The mind-boggling photo left many confused until Hunter Culverhouse, owner of the legs, came forward to squash the beef:
“I was finishing off some art homework and had some white paint left on my brush and just decided to draw random lines, I had no intentions of making it look shiny,” Culverhouse told BuzzFeed News.
So there you have it — it’s just white paint streaks. Oh, the power of social media!
