One reason why we love Amber Rose is that she’s never afraid to talk about the tough issues—sexism, double standards and consent. And in a recent interview with Yahoo! Style, the talk show host and emoji queen didn’t disappoint.
When asked about the leaked audio of GOP Presidential nominee Donald Trump bragging about sexual assault, Rose told editor Joe Zee that she's been groped by famous men too.
“I want him to get in trouble for it because I cannot even count how many times a famous guy touched me inappropriately, “ the 33-year-old shared.
Rose also provided some insight as to why women don’t report these incidents to the police.
“Seriously. Imagine this: Donald Trump comes and touches me inappropriately, right? I’m a regular ass girl. Do I call 911? Do I get on Twitter and tweet about it? How should I go about letting people know that this guy did it to me and who’s actually going to believe me, you know what I’m saying? You just try to get over it, and it happens to so many women.”
Sadly, many women and girls can relate to Rose’s experiences of being groped by men who refuse to see us as human beings. So thank you Amber for speaking truth to power. Hopefully more celebs—women and men—will continue to bring awareness to a topic that stays too silent in our community.
