Move over Yeezys, there’s a new reigning shoe in town. Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma Creeper has been declared Footwear New’s 2016 Shoe of the Year, a title previously held by Kanye West. FN reports that after the Creeper sold out in three hours last year and continued to sell out through this past year, there really was no other choice for the coveted title. The Anti singer was enamored:
“In my wildest dreams, I never would have imagined an honor like Shoe of the Year,” Rihanna told FN. “It means so much to me to make a mark like this in the shoe and sneaker industry and to have so many people share my love for the Creeper.”
This fall the Creepers dropped in seasonal colors like camel, olive and camo. Riri’s also added no-lace trainers, sneaker boots and sneaker heels to her the Fenty x Puma line.
FN is also honoring Adidas North America President Mark King with the Person of the Year award for the continued success of West and Adidas. Other honorees include Designer of the Year Paul Andrew, Lifetime Achievement Award winner Aldo Bensadoun, Hall of Fame inductee Linda Fargo, the fashion maven at Bergdorf Goodman, and more.
The 2016 Shoe of the Year will be presented at the 30th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York on Nov. 29.
