Watch Dads Teach Their Daughters the Power of Positive Affirmations

All the feels.

Published December 8, 2016

Back in September, a video of personal trainer and wellness coach, Ron Alston giving his 3-year-old daughter, Aliya a morning pep talk went viral. Instructed by her father as she stares at her reflection in the mirror, the pint-sized cutie says, "I am strong. I am smart. I work hard. I am beautiful.” Their little self-confidence lesson has over 17 million views to date on Facebook and was the inspiration behind The Scene’s all new compilation video of dads giving their daughters their own mantras to recite.

The video features daddy/daughter duos of different colors and backgrounds, so all races can relate. It should go without question that we’re totally on board with this movement (#BlackGirlMagic even gets a shout out in one little girl’s affirmation)!

Whether you’re in need of some feels,or a confidence boost yourself, check out The Scene’s video below.

Remember when actor/singer Tyrese Gibson did the same thing with his daughter, Shayla? Their self-confidence drills got a lot attention, too. Self-love seems to be the topic-of-discussion around most mental wellness story lines today. Probably because, with all the trolling, shading and overall pettiness spreading like a disease via the internet, it’s in good self-care to be equipped with a mantra or two.

Young or old, loving yourself is a battle that people at any age struggle with, so it’s endearing to see fathers starting to teach their daughters the importance of confidence at an early age.
