See How Bob Marley's Granddaughter, Zuri Marley, Is Killing the Style Game as an NYU Student

And in case you're wondering, she doesn't smoke!

Zuri Marley is a 21-year-old NYU student and musician.

Oh yeah, and she also happens to be Bob Marley's granddaughter.

The music major is coming into her own apart from her legendary lineage. A campus celebrity at NYU, she can count a feature on Dev Hynes's opus Freetown Sound on her resume. You can hear her vocals on the track "Love Ya." Hynes has reportedly even brought her out onstage to perform with him. This accolade, paired with her Instagram, an account infused with distinct style and occasional enviable photos from Jamaica, and Hollywood's proclivity for embracing celebspawn, has us wondering: Is Zuri Marley a rising "It" girl?

Though reggae is in her roots, Marley notes that she wants to take the path less wall-paved. “I think my music is more alternative-pop, not reggae. I don’t want to become what people think I should be,” she said.

Marley was recently interviewed by the New York Post and posed in Washington Square Park for a photoshoot. She confessed to the Post that people really want to smoke weed with her but she's not about that life.

“I remember there was one guy [during] freshman year who constantly asked me to smoke with him. I think it was just so he could say he smoked with Bob Marley’s granddaughter. He thought I would be a stoner — but I don’t really smoke!”
