The school bell rang loudly, calling guests to attention. Fenty University was now in session.
In Rihanna's third collection at the helm of Puma's creative operation, the fashion rebel's influence on the collection was transparent as ever. Maybe it was her recent trip to Harvard, but Rihanna definitely had school in mind.
While "I Fink U Freaky" by Die Antwoord began the show, model-of-the-moment Slick Woods was the first to parade down the makeshift runway, sporting an open jacket and an even more open chest. It should come as no surprise that bad gal RiRi is down for the #FreeTheNipple movement, but this first look symbolized the show's entire vibe: a subversion of a rigid institution reimagined through the Fenty lens.
This season's rich hues stand in contrast to the last collection's placid pastel shades and felt more in sync with the first fall collection, in which athleisure was interpreted through a monochromatic, health-goth palette.
Rihanna herself wore jewlery adorned with FU and FS accents (Fenty University and Fenty School, respectively). Her shirt here does suspiciously resemble Drake's tour merch, but both designs are just riffs of standard athletic department logos, so there are really no winners here.
Go on and take a bow, Rih. Congrats on a successful third presentation!
