As one of fashion's foremost bad boys, Shayne Oliver is in high demand. Such demand has propelled him to Helmut Lang, the brand responsible for peak '90s looks (and subsequently, the inspiration for present-day collections that give a nod to the punky, minimalist era).
Oliver is currently at the helm of the brand he founded, Hood by Air (HBA), which is fashion's answer to radical street style. Just last season, HBA's models paraded down the runway, their faces shmeared with lube, wearing garments that read "HUSTLER" and "PORNHUB." Oliver also collaborated with Pornhub for a video series that ran concurrent with the collection.
The fashion world was shocked when HBA canceled its Paris show just days before the scheduled presentation.
It posed a question: Was HBA over?
With the news of the new collaboration, HBA reps finally have given us some insight: “Shayne is currently focusing his time on the special project with Helmut Lang. As a result, HBA will be continued but is transitioning to accommodate this. We will be releasing more information soon.”
We have reason to believe that Shayne Oliver and Helmut Lang will be a match made in sartorial heaven. Helmut Lang, after all, popularized the influence of bondage on fashion.
Can't wait to see what this capsule collection will look like.
