Fantasia Barrino, American Idol and Grammy winner, gave the lowdown on her relationship in a new interview with xoNecole — and she doesn't hold back.
The 32-year-old singing phenom, now 13 years into her career (she was the youngest Idol winner at the time), spilled the tea on her relationship with her hubby, Kendall Taylor.
The pair have been married since 2015. Barrino and Taylor tied the knot after just two weeks of dating. But the matrimony was not of the shotgun wedding variety — in fact, you may be surprised by Barrino's unorthodox methods in preparing to say, "I do."
“I fasted for seven months while I was doing my last Broadway play, After Midnight. I started realizing that what I was doing wasn’t working for me, so I did something very corny and I put a ring on my own finger. I did a lot of praying and watched a lot of things that were good for my spirit," Barrino said. "Me and Kendall married before we made love, so it wasn’t about my body or my money. He was a man with his own business and he was also a man with a past. I think I fell in love with that the most because he did not let his past block his future. He has a story and a testimony, too.”
Barrino isn't the first celeb to praise celibacy prior to marriage. It's well known that Ciara and Russell Wilson waited until exchanging vows before getting it on. Judging by Cici's baby bump, she's thought to be eight months pregnant — providing us with a timeline that suggests they didn't waste much time after making it official.
Maybe these ladies are on to something. Is celibacy before marriage the recipe for everlasting love? Only time will tell.
