For Rihanna, a woman who once wore a shirt bearing the phrase "SCHOOL KILLS," it appears recent brushes with academia have given her life. And judging by academic institutions' celebrations of her, it seems as though the love is mutual.
First, Rihanna was awarded as Humanitarian of the Year at Harvard. Soon after, she showed her third Fenty x Puma presentation, which was centered around the Bad Gal's interpretation of detention. Now, Rih will again be honored by the academic community, this time at Parsons School of Design's Annual Benefit in May.
“Parsons is proud to present Rihanna with this honor, as she has inspired millions through her powerful music and distinct style,” Parsons' Executive Dean Joel Towers said. “She has championed our recent alumni on a number of occasions by wearing their designs. She is also creating important philanthropic programs, which support communities by fostering effective education, health, and emergency response programs around the world through her Clara Lionel Foundation.”
In her acceptance speech at Harvard, Rihanna declared that she'd one day like to go back to school, noting that she wanted to put it out into the universe. Perhaps this is the universe giving her a sign?
We love that Rihanna continues to be honored for her selfless efforts. Get it, girl!
