Kodak Black drastically altered his signature look by surgically removing all 24 of his gold teeth the day after his 20th birthday. To prove the surgery was legit, Kodak Black actually went live on social media so fans could actually see the teeth removal process. The video and photos he shared appear to be some sort of rite of passage that led him into his 20s.
The surgery expectedly would be an eyebrow raiser for his fans because Kodak frequently references his gold teeth in his music. But we guess the rapper decided it was time for a new look and he seemed pretty pleased with his decision, showing an after picture of his surgery with the caption “corporate thuggin,” followed by another post that says “My Teeth Don't Define Me My Heart Do” #majorkey.
The Kardashians do this type of over sharing all the time, from baby deliveries to blood facials. It’s the new normal. So it was cool to see this from Kodak. Check out the full video if you are curious.
Kodak is the not first rapper to drop the grill image and opt for something more fresh. Fetty Wap, Nelly, 50 Cent, T.I., Kid Cudi, and Young Thug to name a few have dropped upwards of 80k for the “Grill Glo-Ups.” Who don’t want pearly whites!? But is this a new trend? Fellas, are we done with the gold grills? I was just about to go get my gold fangs. Dang.
Kodak is like, “New grill, who this?”
