Mattel, the makers of Barbie, announced today that Barbie is getting a few new boy toys, and we are totally here for it!
We have all seen the beautiful diversity being created for the iconic doll brand with Barbies being created in different body shapes, skin colors and even hair textures, but now we can finally see her longtime boyfriend, Ken, evolve.
“By continuing to expand our product line, we are redefining what a Barbie or Ken doll looks like to this generation,” said Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and general manager, Barbie. “Evolving Ken was a natural evolution for the brand and allows girls to further personalize the role they want him to play in Barbie’s world.”
In the expansion of Barbie’s Fashionistas line, 15 new and diverse Ken dolls, featuring three body types – slim, broad and original – and a variety of skin tones, eye colors, hairstyles and modern fashion looks can be seen. Even a cutie with cornrows!
These dolls join the 100+ diverse looks launched in the Barbie Fashionistas line within the last three years. Don't we all wish this diversity existed in our youth!
