If you haven't watched Netflix documentaryWhat the Health, get out of the hole you've been living in. The film IS basically responsible for a sizeable amont of folks converting to a plant-based diet, which is now more popular than it has ever been before. But in case you have yet to get bit by the vegan bug, an all-new video released by PETA featuring your favorite celebs might school you on why animal-free is the way to be.
Waka Flocka, Russell Simmons and Mýa sat down and discussed their journey to becoming vegans that just might make you think twice before chowing down on that burger. Shot at the Crossraods Kitchen in Los Angeles, the three entertainers discussed why they permanently ditched animal products for good.
"I was fat. I had stretch marks. I just got tired of it," Waka Flocka told his dinner dates. The "Round of Applause" hit maker claims that his inspiration was his weight gain in 2014. Waka slimmed down after trying vegan meals and he says, "I got on stage, I felt better. My attitude was better. Like, everything about me was better."
Simmons, who's been vegan for nearly 20 years, adds, "It's the 100 billion animals that I worry about. When you're looking at your plate, you see the process of the throats being slit, the mistreatment of animals, the souls that they do have."
Mýa sees her decision to go vegan as a lifelong commitment, and refuses to turn back. The singer went vegan more than three years ago when she discovered the meat industry's impact on human health. "I was raised on pork, steak, chicken, everything. And everyone in my family pretty much of the older generation has diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cancer. My mother is a two-time cancer survivor."
Let's face it, going from carnivore to a full on plant-eater might seem like A LOT. But before you knock it, watch PETA's vegan roundtable discussion with the stars and decide for yourself.
