Real Talk: Are You Taking A Vacation With Your Ex's New Wife For The Kids?

"This friendship/partnership is truly a blessing," says Christina Milian.

Co-parenting ain’t easy, but celebrities like Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and Mashonda and Jada Pinkett, Will Smith and Sheree Zampino make it look good. Well, there’s a new co-parenting trio taking their duty to their children to new heights in a pretty impressive vacation scenario.

Christina Milian, who shares a daughter with her ex-husband, The Dream, invited Dream's other baby mama/new wife, Lalonne Martinez, to join her on vacation for the kids… without him. While we applaud their effort to go the extra mile for kiddos, this might not be realistic for most folks.

So we had to ask real moms:

Would you do the same if you are/were in a similar situation? Why, or why not?

  1. Teamwork

"OF COURSE I would! Teamwork makes the dream work! I will not let my kids be put into an awkward situation if this was me guess what we all going to be a family for the kids sake. As long as our kids are happy and enjoying life THAT is all they need to be doing and know. They don't need to know about issues that the adults have and if there are issues guess what we are all adults so we WILL work through them! She did the right thing in my opinion." -Melissa Santagata

  2. Team #TOOMuch

"I would never go on a vacation with the new wife. ABSOLUTELY not. We could be friendly, but I think vacationing alone is team #toomuch. I believe there should be boundaries. If it were my child’s birthday or graduation, we could all hang out etc. but going on a vacation is a bit too personal for me." -Tira Urquhart

  3. F-r-i-e-n-d-s

"Yeah, I would develop a friendship because we will be in each others lives so why not be peaceful. As a mom of two, I know that my children are more important than anything in this world. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, but if anything were to happen that we decide to not be together and be with someone else. We both would make sure that who ever we decide to be with will be what's best for our kids.

"Women who come into relationships with men who have kids or visa versa, need to understand that there is another parent and shutting each other out is unhealthy for the children. We cant let them suffer just because we decide to change their lives. The goal should always be, make sure the kids are good and then we are all good.

"I'm happy that I see celebs that demonstrate the 'blended family' lifestyle, it shows that yes we all have are ups and downs but we can all come together and represent what 'love' truly is." -Chrysalis Pipkin

  4. Why Not?

"If I moved on, and get along with the new wife then why not? Seems like they’re genuinely enjoying themselves and it’s definitely creating a positive environment for the kids." -Alana A.

  5. Just Be Adults About It

"Personally, I feel there’s nothing wrong because when the child is around their step-parent, she’ll has some kind of influence. The parents of the child have to be in a good place for it to work. You now have love for each other and are only dealing with each other, in terms of the child so that’s just how co-parenting works. It works best when there’s no pettiness involved. I think this is a beautiful idea and more people need to be like this, instead of fighting against it. Just be adults about it." -Tres Abraham

  6. Do It For The Kids

"It’s not about me and her, it’s about the kids knowing each other." -Jasmine G.

  7. It Takes Growth

"Yes, this is something I would definitely be open to. The kids' happiness matters so much, and so does the adults. Co-parenting is actually not that hard when all parties involved can put all the bs to the side. Now, from my personal experience this is not something I can or would do right away. ONLY because my kids father and I don't really get along the way I wish we would be able to.

"I feel it's important I establish a great consistent routine with him first when it involves the kids. I guess decisions like these come with growth from every adult involved. But it's something I would definitely do because most kids are reflections of their parents. They learn what they are taught, and this would teach love and respect." -Natasha Sibre

  8. Not Today

    "Nope, not I." -Anonymous
