We already know how hard it is to hit the gym solo, but now there's scientific studies that prove having a workout partner (or workout partners) to be more effective not only for your #BodyGoals, but for your overall well-being.
Researchers found working out in a group lowers stress by a whopping 26 percent and significantly improves quality of life, while those who exercise individually put in more effort but experienced no significant changes in their stress level and a limited improvement to quality of life, according to a study published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association.
Group exercise provides accountability, motivation and a social aspect to working out with a gym partner versus individual exercise. Most people find more enjoyment from working out with others and find themselves working out harder and achieving more. Unlike individual exercise, you are more likely to throw in the towel earlier.
"The communal benefits of coming together with friends and colleagues, and doing something difficult, while encouraging one another, pays dividends beyond exercising alone," said Dayna Yorks, DO, lead researcher on this study.
In order to get those bodies right and tight, looks like we need to grab a gym buddy to achieve our fitness goals we've been wanting all 2017.
