Netflix Increases Prices For Streaming Services – And Twitter Is Not Happy About It
Netflix announced it will be raising prices on streaming services for the first time since 2017. Sadly, thanks to the price hike, "Neflix and chill" has been compromised, and folks are seriously heated. Yikes!
Just in time to destroy the remainder of cuffing season, the online streaming service announced that as of yesterday (Jan. 15), they have hiked up the prices to watch movies and TV shows by an extra $2.
According to Variety, all three of Netflix's subscriber plans will see a pricing difference.
What do you think of the price increase? Is Netlfix canceled?
Here’s what you need to know:
- The basic plan, which only offers subscribers a single standard definition stream, will be going from $7.99 to $8.99 per month.
- The standard plan, which offers users two HD streams, will rise from $10.99 to $12.99.
- The premium tier, which offers four 4K streams, will go from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.
FYI: New Netflix users in the United States will notice a price change immediately, while existing subscribers will have a "few months" of watching bliss before they are alerted 30 days before the official price hike.
“We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience,” a Netflix spokeswoman said.
Completely irked, loyal Netflix subscribers who haven’t seen an increase in prices since Oct. 2017 headed to Twitter to vent.
