Angélique Kidjo


Angélique Kidjo is a Grammy-winning singer from Benin who stitches together a brilliant tapestry of music styles from around the world.  With her sound, she echoes the rich cultural leanings of Congolese rumba, Afropop, Latin jazz, reggae and more. Since her debut disc Pretty (1980), Kidjo has collaborated with an eclectic group of artists, including Dave Matthews, Peter Gabriel, Bono and John Legend. Her latest, Oyo, builds on her genre-bending tendencies with an eye on the motherland, further enhancing her reputation, according to Time magazine, as "Africa's premier diva."
