Dolen Perkins-Valdez is the award-winning author of the New York Times bestselling novel Wench. She also wrote the introduction to an edition of Solomon Northup’s Twelve Years a Slave. Throughout her career, she has received two NAACP Image Award nominations, a D.C. Commission on the Arts Grant and won the First Novelist Award at the Black Caucus of American Library Association. She also became a finalist in the Hurston Wright Legacy Award for Fiction and the Robert Olen Butler Prize for Short Fiction.
