Formerly a member of the '90s underground rap crew Natural Elements, Ka rattled the underground with his 2008 comeback and solo debut, Iron Works.  The raspy-voiced, Brooklyn-bred MC took a four-year hiatus before he dropped his acclaimed second solo effort, Grief Pedigree, in 2012.  The dark, sample-heavy album, reminiscent of vintage masterworks from Mobb Deep and other street-focused East Coast legends, garnered acclaim from hip hop heads, top music blogs and fellow musicians like Erykah Badu and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def).  His third album, The Night's Gambit, was released in 2013.
