B. Slade, formerly known as the gospel singer Tonéx, is known for his diverse musical styles. Slade named his eclectic style "nureau." While he still dabbles in R&B, electro and pop, he is hesitant to revisit gospel. After his former label Verity Records sued the gospel singer for one million dollars for breach of contract when he suspended his music career to take over his father's church in the wake of his death, Tonéx quit gospel altogether. In 2010, he renamed himself B. Slade in an attempt to rebrand himself.
