The NBA icon now has an estimated net worth of $3 Billion.

NBA legend Michael Jordan is hailed as one of the greatest players of all time and off the court, he is one of the most successful businesspeople – and apparently Forbes magazine agrees..

According to CBS News, Jordan has been named to Forbes’ 400 list at number 379 with an estimated net worth of $3 billion. The former Chicago Bulls superstar is joined by  LeBron James and Tiger Woods as the only former athletes to accumulate wealth of more than $1 billion.

Jordan’s wealth dramatically increased when he sold the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall in June after being the sole owner of the team for 13 years. The sale was valued at $3 billion. He purchased majority ownership of the team in 2010 for $275 Million.

In addition to his investments in team ownership, Jordan owes much of his wealth to his partnership with Nike. Reportedly, he receives $260 Million annually in royalties from Nike for his hugely successful Jordan brand. Other endorsement deals with McDonald's Hanes, Upper Deck, and Gatorade.
