2021 Soul Train Awards: 3 Songs That Contributed To Jazmine Sullivan’s ‘Album Of The Year’ Win
Whether it’s a Grammy or an Oscar, getting nominated for any esteemed award isn’t an effortless accomplishment. However, the feeling an artist gets from being titled one of, if not the best in their genre by their supporters and perhaps most notably by their peers is indescribable.
During the 2021 Soul Train Awards, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jazmine Sullivan had the opportunity of experiencing that feeling twice after she took home the award for “Best R&B/ Soul Artist” in the first round of awards at the top of the night. Later in the show, the “Tragic” singer returned to accept the “Album of the Year” award for her fourth studio project. The crowd cheered for the singer as she walked up to get her trophy.
The 14-track album was the first studio release from the singer in six years. However, the wait proved to be well worth it. Jazmine said she created Heaux Tales “for women to love themselves no matter what stage of life that they’re in.” In the end, Jazmine delivered another bundle of songs we know we’ll be replaying for years to come. Check out three songs from the album we strongly believe assisted in earning the “Album of the Year” award.
“Pick Up Ya Feelings”

Jazmine teamed up with fellow soul singer H.E.R. this sultry number about how “it ain’t right how these h--s be winning.”
