LAPD Chief Says PnB Rock Killing May Have Resulted From Instagram Post

The Philadelphia artist was killed at a Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles on Sept. 12.

After news broke that Philadelphia artist PnB Rock was killed at a Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles on Monday (Sept. 12), Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore shared that the attack may have been a result of the 30-year-old’s location being posted on Instagram.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Moore said that police are currently conducting an investigation to see what led to the robbery and killing of  Rock whose real name was Rakim Allen.

He “was with his family — with his girlfriend or some kind of friend of his — and as they’re there, enjoying a simple meal, [he] was brutally attacked by an individual who apparently [came] to the location after a social media posting,” Moore said, referring to a now-deleted photo that had the location-tagged of Rock’s whereabouts.

According to a law enforcement source, LAPD investigators are examining security video from inside the restaurant to identify the shooter.

Police Capt. Kelly Muniz notes that a suspect brandished a firearm at the Roscoe’s restaurant and demanded items from Rock, it’s believed that Rock was sought out after his jewelry.

Roscoe’s issued a statement expressing shock over the killing in its restaurant.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Rakim Hasheem Allen, (also known as PnB Rock), an incredible artist in Los Angeles and everywhere,” the chain said in a post on Instagram.

“His passing represents an enormous loss to each and every one of us. Our most heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers go to the Allen family at this difficult time. The safety of our employees and guests are our utmost priority. We have and will continue to keep our place of business as safe as possible.”

LAPD investigators say they are examining security video from inside the restaurant to identify the shooter. They’re also reportedly checking with surrounding businesses to see whether additional images or video of the suspect leaving the establishment were captured.

PnB Rock known for his single “Selfish”, among other songs, that reached #51 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016. His other hits include “Middle Child” featuring the late XXXtentacion and his feature on Kodak Black’s “Too Many Years.”
