Matt Barnes Upset That Derek Fisher Didn’t Handle Beef Like a Man

He says the Knicks coach should not have called police.

It has been over a month since Matt Barnes reportedly attacked Derek Fisher after discovering that his former teammate and current New York Knicks coach was in his old home, dating his estranged wife, Gloria Govan.

Time hasn't healed wounds, either, as Barnes told the Los Angeles Times that he's still irked by the incident and that Fisher spoke about it with the police.

"We're two grown men who should have handled two grown men's business, but he wanted to run and tell the cops and the NBA," Barnes told the LA Times on Monday.

Shortly after the October incident, Barnes told ESPN that he was responding to text messages from his son and that's what made him rush over to check out the situation. From there, he discovered Fisher, and the two reportedly had a physical altercation.

Despite Barnes's allegation that Fisher spoke with cops, no charges were filed. The NBA hasn't even issued any discipline to either involving the matter.

Although Fisher has kept rather mum about the incident with the media, he reportedly hasn't ruled out pursuing legal ramifications against Barnes. Certain road crowds have also chanted his name to further irk Barnes, who's currently a small forward for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Barnes, who played with Fisher on the Los Angeles Lakers from 2010 to 2012, is ready for anything.
"With me, you never know," Barnes told the Times. "There's a handful of people who love me and a handful of people who hate me. And there's a handful of people who want to chant 'Derek Fisher,' so it will be interesting."
The two will come face to face on January 16, when Fisher and the Knicks visit Barnes and the Grizzlies, and on February 5, when New York plays host.
