Robin Roberts Thanks "Long Time Girlfriend," Comes Out

The morning show host successfully battled cancer.

Robin Roberts celebrated a major milestone in her battle against cancer on Sunday by thanking those who have supported her on the journey, including one person in particular. The Good Morning America host penned a touching Facebook post reflecting on her life changing year, and made particular mention of her "long time girlfriend" Amber Laign
It's the first time that Roberts, who was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a bone marrow transplant in September 2012, has publicly come out as gay.
"I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life," the journalist, 53, wrote. "I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together."
"I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold," Roberts continued. "On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too. At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude."
According to People, Roberts and Laign, a massage therapist, met through mutual friends and have been a couple for the past ten years.  Roberts' network family at ABC News issued a statement in support of her decision to come out to BuzzFeed: "We love Robin and Amber, who we have all known for a long time. We were so touched by Robin’s Facebook message today and so thankful for all the loving support she has in her life."
Looks like Roberts will be starting her new year healthy, happy and surrounded by supportive friends and fans.
